Travel Arrangements to Austria | ||
|
You have total flexibility when it comes to travel. The
following information about the various travel possibilities
may be helpful. Nevertheless, we would ask you to give serious
consideration to the environmental implications of travelling
by air. In this context, we should point out that our financial protection scheme is not authorised to cover air travel and therefore we are unable to supply air travel as part of our holidays. Further, under current legislation there is no financial protection covering air tickets bought directly from an airline, including purchases from the airline's own website. This means that if the airline with which you are booked ceases to operate, you will lose your money. All rail and sea travel supplied by us as part of your holiday is, of course, fully protected. We strongly believe that the journey is part of your holiday, and is a chance to relax from the very start. From an Inter City train or a modern ferry you can enjoy the scenery and the whole experience of travel, slowly immersing yourself in another country and culture, instead of hanging around in the stressful atmosphere of an airport. |

We offer a full range of travel arrangements, allowing you
to choose what is most convenient for you. If you want to
buy a holiday without travel (perhaps you will be in Austria
or a nearby part of Germany on business and want to spend
a few days walking before returning to work, or you plan to
visit Europe from overseas and will have a rail pass,
or you are a shareholder in a ferry
company) please contact
us for information on Land Only prices. |

Rail Only (Eurostar) The easiest and most relaxing way to travel is by Eurostar through the Channel Tunnel. Bad Goisern can be reached in a day from London or Ashford in about 14 hours if you leave very early in the morning. The journey is via Brussels, Cologne, Frankfurt and Nuremburg. If you are unable to leave London early, why not take an overnight sleeper to Austria from Cologne? As an alternative to a sleeper, you can insteas break your journey en-route. The trains pass through many of Germany's most interesting towns, all well worth a visit. |

Rail & Sea Sail from from Newcastle to Amsterdam, from Hull to Rotterdam or Zeebrugge or from Harwich to Hoek van Holland with onward rail travel. The Harwich to Hoek van Holland crossing only operates by day for rail passengers, while the Newcastle to Amsterdam is an overnight crossing. You sail during the late afternoon the day before you arrive at your holiday destination, starting your holiday with dinner or a drink in the bar. By Car We offer inclusive prices for self-drive customers via Harwich to Hoek van Holland, either by day on the high speed HSS service or by night; via Eurotunnel through the Channel Tunnel, and Newcastle to Amsterdam. We can book most other ferry routes for you too. |

Sleeping Berth on Ferries Accommodation must be booked when travelling overnight. Cabins with private facilities are offered on all ferry routes. Meals on Ferries You can now pre-pay your meals on board at a useful saving compared with shipboard prices. Air & Rail If you want to fly, the nearest airport to the Austrian Lakes is Salzburg. However, this is only served from the UK by Ryanair from Stansted. Transfer time by bus and train is about three hours. Munich is served from most UK airports and has excellent rail connections to Salzburg and on to Bad Goisern. Transfer time is usually about 5 hours. A further possibility is to fly to Vienna and take the train from there; again, transfer time is usually about 5 hours. We do not supply air tickets ourselves, but you are welcome to ask us for advice. |
