| The Hotel Platzl The Hotel Platzl is a fine family-run hotel in the village of Auffach, at the top of the Wildschönau Valley. With one of the just two cable cars in the whole region starting from just close to the hotel, it is perfectly situated for the walker and other active holidaymakers. The Fill family will welcome you and advise on your holiday while you stay with them. The hotel has a solarium, steam bath and sauna. |

Some suggested walks for this holiday Walk 1. Take the cable car to the Schatzbergalm (5841 ft). There is a wide choice of routes back to the valley. The easiest is via Grasing (about 4½ miles; 2½ hours). The views are spectacular. Walk 2. Follow the valley of the Wildschönauer Ache to the creamery at Schönanger Alm. From here, if you want, there is a lovely circular walk to Kundl-Alm, returning to Schönanger along the side of the mountains.Return to Wildschönau via the Hönigkaseralm (about 3¾ miles; to Schönanger, about 2 miles further to Kundl-Alm, about 12 miles in total). Walk 3. A classic alpine valley walk to Niederkaser Alm, followed by a return via an isolated chapel through the forest (about 4 miles; 3½ hours). Walk 4. There is a wide choice of paths between Auffach, where you stay and Oberau, the main community of the whole of the Wildschönau. You can walk out direct along the east side of the valley and return via Mühltal. |
